Compassion for Others
The Lord made us thinking creatures, He made it where we can feel emotions. He made us in His image. Not only can we feel our own emotions but we have a gift called empathy.
Empathy allows us to understand what other people are feeling which opens up the door for compassion. Compassion leads to action which shows the glory and love of Christ.
"Everyone needs compassion
A love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Saviour
The hope of nations"
-Mighty to Save by Matt Redmond
Empathy means feeling with someone but Compassion moves you to action.
Empathy is seeing someone drop something and feeling embarrassed with them. Compassion is picking that object up and handing it back to them with a smile.
Showing the love of Christ to another person speaks so much louder than your words ever could.
"In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy, he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old." Isaiah 63:9
The Lord felt Empathy for the plight of Isreal and was moved to compassion to help them.
As the Lord has done this for them He continues to do this for us. As his children, it is our responsibility to share the love of the Father to others just as He has shown it to us.
How can you move beyond empathy and into compassion for those around you?
