The Hand of The Father
This Sunday is Father's day which just like Mother's day can be bittersweet. A day to remember the love your father gave you or to dream of what kind of father your children see you as. Being a father is tough work and takes long-term dedication even beyond the 18 years your child is in the home. However, some dads fall short and don't leave good examples for their children.
Many men ask themselves, "How can I be a good father if I never had that example in my own life."
Many people struggle with the idea of trusting God because He is set forward as the Father and they don't know what a good father is.
You can be a good father even if your father was not. God loves you even if your own father never did.
As we honor our fathers this Sunday let us remember to also reach out for the hand of the Father in guiding our lives.
1 John 3:2 "The Father has loved us so much that we are called children of God. And we really are his children..."
If you have accepted Christ into your life you are part of His family and He is a good loving father who always takes care of His children.
Psalm 68: 4-6 "Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him—his name is the Lord. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land."
For those who need further reassurance of the love of the Father and what it means to be His child, I recommend reading all of 1 John chapter 3.
For all the Fathers reading this: When you aren't sure how to be a good father ask God what He would do and look into His word. He honors those that honor Him and will help you lead your family with strength and courage.
